What is NatHERS?
The National House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) is a 10 star rating system based on the design, construction materials and climate in which a home is being built.
NatHERS helps to make Australian homes more comfortable for their residents and also helps to save on energy bills through smarter design choices.
LONG TERM FINANCIAL SAVINGS
Heating and cooling is responsible for the majority of the average Australian household’s energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Undertaking a Thermal Comfort Simulation (TCS) regardless of the type of residential development can help reduce construction costs when it comes to your BASIX Certificate. Paying the small amount for a specialist to undertake the TCS at the design stage can provide long term financial savings.
A house energy rating is required for all alterations and additions, and both residential and commercial building works. This national assessment involves the thermal modelling of each individual room in a house to determine the modelled heating and cooling loads.
Below is a short video explaining NatHERS in further detail.
